Fig & Walnut Old Fashioned

The old fashioned is not only a personal favorite, it’s a favorite among cocktail enthusiasts. I think this is largely due to its versatility and ability to showcase the base spirit – which doesn’t have to be whiskey.

However, this recipe is for a simple fig and walnut old fashioned does include whiskey. Using a fig-infused Elijah Craig (per Death & Co specs) and walnut bitters, the simple recipe gains an additional touch of complexity that’s good for a change of pace or for a seasonal play on the standard old fashioned. If I were to change this in the future, I’d be curious about trying a vanilla simple syrup instead of the demerara.
