Imbibe Like Hemingway!

“Always do sober what you said you’d do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.” – Ernest Hemingway

The daiquiri. A cocktail that has been reborn like the phoenix, from the depths of frozen slushy abomination. On July 19 – Daiquiri Day, why not do it right and celebrate with Ernest Hemingway’s own daiquiri variant? If you can find his official recipe, please let me know. As far as I can tell, he was more concerned with writing about things other than his cocktail preferences. All I know is that his recipe added grapefruit juice and maraschino liqueur to the standard ingredient list. So, in lieu of that recipe, here is the standard daiquiri recipe. Feel free to dabble around with his recipe. The best Hemingway variant I’ve found so far is 2 ounces white rum, ¾ ounce lime juice, ½ grapefruit juice, and ½ ounce maraschino liqueur. Find the classic recipe below.

– Cheers!
