A Cocktail Book That Doesn’t Apologize

Three years ago, I started working on a cocktail book—sort of.

The concept was simple: pair 22 classic cocktail recipes with photography of 15 models. There are plenty of cocktail books about the history, technique, and science of mixology, so I wanted to create something totally different. The book includes simple recipes for the classics, but focuses mostly on being a coffee table art book.

The hardcover deluxe edition is printed on thick lay-flat photo paper and is perfect for display. The kind of book that earns a permanent spot on your coffee table rather than getting shelved after a week. The photography is a combination of playful and sensual sessions.

VICES features the classic recipes worth knowing. The Negroni, the Last Word, the Sazerac, the Daiquiri, and 18 others. Each one sits alongside images shot over the course of the project.

The Humble Garnish started as a cocktail blog and eventually led me toward food and beverage photography professionally. VICES is where that thread meets the other half of my work as a photographer.

You can order your copy now and receive a 10% discount with code HUMBLEGARNISH.

I created The Humble Garnish because I’m passionate about cocktails. Occasionally, I am provided with products for review or other perks. Many product links on this site are affiliate links that give me a very small kickback, and costs the buyer nothing extra. For example, as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases after a link leading to Amazon is clicked. Other links may earn me affiliate commissions as well. This helps offset the cost of creating content for the site – things like camera gear, software, alcohol, glassware. I have at times accepted and at other times declined free products. I promote what I love and use, and rarely will write about a product that I don’t appreciate or own. If I don’t like a product or service, I often simply choose not to write about it.
